The ÎÛÎÛÂþ» Student Senate kicked off the 2025-2026 year with a transformative retreat at Mono Cliffs. Student leaders from across Toronto came together to set goals, share ideas, and lay the foundation for a year of meaningful advocacy.

Throughout the weekend, executives reflected on their priorities, passions, and collective goals. Beyond planning, student leaders took part in a range of team-building activities like high and low ropes, outdoor scavenger hunts and hikes. Campfire storytelling and improv exercises encouraged creativity, vulnerability, and laughter, helping deepen relationships and build trust within the group. Moments like rolling down the hill together, also added a layer of lighthearted fun that brought the team closer as both leaders and peers.

Reflection was at the heart of the retreat. Senators practiced communication, collaboration, and strategic planning while also talking about mental health, inclusive practices, equity in leadership, and systemic issues affecting ÎÛÎÛÂþ» students. These conversations grounded their work and reminded everyone of the bigger purpose behind the Senate. The group also made tangible decisions, from planning TEDx leadership initiatives to voting on the official logo for the year.

“The Senate has been hard at work, planning for an exciting year ahead,” said William Xu, president of the Student Senate. “With a new structure, I believe this year’s Senate is stronger than ever and better equipped to represent students across the ÎÛÎÛÂþ».”
