Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
I hope the first week of school has been a positive one for your children as we all begin another year of learning at the ÎÛÎÛÂþ». I want to take this opportunity to provide some additional information on how parents, guardians, caregivers and students can continue to ask questions and share concerns with the board while the ÎÛÎÛÂþ» is under provincial supervision.
The following are key changes to governance and engagement, as directed by the Ministry of Education:
- Parent/Guardian/Caregiver Concerns: If you have a question or concern about your child’s education, please follow the ÎÛÎÛÂþ»’s Parent Concern Protocol which begins with speaking with staff at your child’s school. Should you wish to contact Rohit Gupta, the provincial supervisor who is overseeing the ÎÛÎÛÂþ», please email supervisor@tdsb.on.ca. The Office of the Supervisor will review and, where appropriate, respond or refer to the appropriate staff for a response.
- Board and Committee Meetings: Under the direction of the Ministry of Education, regular Board of Trustees meetings have been paused until further notice. A number of Committee meetings will continue, including the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) and Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) with further operating details being confirmed in the near future.
Families are reminded to contact only ÎÛÎÛÂþ» staff using @tdsb.on.ca email addresses and to be mindful of sharing personal information with third parties offering to resolve school-related concerns on your behalf.
We remain committed to maintaining the lines of communication between families and the school board during this period of provincial supervision and look forward to helping families navigate the system when issues arise.
Wishing you and your children all the best for the school year ahead.
Sincerely,
Clayton La Touche
Director of Education
