Program Area Review

Summary:

The ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ is currently conducting a Program Area Review involving Kensington CS, King Edward Jr & Sr PS, Orde St PS, and Ryerson CS. The reason for this review is to address the over-utilization/accommodation pressures at Orde St PS, the low enrolment at Kensington CS, and to achieve a balance of enrolment across all schools within the area. A Program Area Review Team (PART) have been formed and have been reviewing data, discussing impacts, and making recommendations for this group of schools. The membership of the PART includes the Trustee, Superintendent, Planning Staff, School Principals, and a School Council Chair/designate from each school.

Proposed Changes through this Review:

The PART is proposing the following changes (Please note that no decisions have been made for this review):

1. Changing the Orde St PS grade range from JK to grade 8 to JK to grade 6. Change proposed to be implemented for September 2026.
2. Moving the Orde St PS grades 7 and 8 to Ryerson CS. Change proposed to be implemented for September 2026.
3. Redirecting new residential developments (have not been occupied yet) within the Orde St PS boundary to Kensington CS and King Edward Jr & Sr PS. Change is proposed to be implemented for September 2025.

The final staff report will be prepared and presented at the Planning and Priorities Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 4:30 pm.

The final decision on this review will be made by the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 7:00 pm.
